Business Diplomat: Diplomacy as Vision
Diplomacy for today’s young leaders is more than relations between states, says the perspective drawn from Abdallahi Bouké’s work; it is a vision that connects people, economies and opportunities. Interviewed by: Asst. Prof. İsmail Polat Interviewee: Abdallahi Bouké, Member of the National Assembly of Mauritania for the Asia Region (Mauritanians Abroad)

What is diplomacy for a young leader today? In this part of its series, Business Diplomat reads Abdallahi Bouké’s work as an answer.
First observation: three ideas for the young
Seen through the Business Diplomat perspective, his work offers young people three lessons: think globally, build international connections and take social responsibility. Each is practical. Thinking globally widens the view, connections make cooperation possible, and responsibility keeps it useful to others.
Second observation: diplomacy beyond states
For today’s young leaders, diplomacy is more than relations between states. It is also a vision that links people, economies and opportunities. A representative who works on a family’s civil record and the same person who speaks about the economic weight of a diaspora are both acting within this vision.
The logic of the assessment
The common thread is that connection needs both scale and detail. At the large scale there are national economies and international ties, while at the small scale there are documents, procedures and families. A diplomat who understands both is able to turn a general idea into a result.
The role of Business Diplomat
This is the outlook Business Diplomat hopes to encourage. Its mission is to give young people experience, bring a diplomatic order to the business world, and benefit states by revitalising the economy. Young people who combine global thinking with social responsibility advance all three.
Conclusion
Diplomacy, for the next generation, is a vision that connects people, economies and opportunities. Bouké’s work shows what that looks like in practice.
