DAY OF UNITY AND REFLECTION: PAKISTAN NATIONAL DAY IN BRUSSELS

The event combined tradition with community engagement, featuring a flag-hoisting ceremony followed by Eid celebrations, which mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Attendees had the opportunity to interact, exchange greetings, and reinforce communal bonds within the expatriate community. Held at the embassy, the event symbolized unity and a shared sense of national pride despite the challenging regional circumstances. The Ambassador of Pakistan to the European Union, Belgium and Luxembourg, H.E. Rahim Hayat Qureshi, highlighted that the embassy “marked the occasion of 23rd March with a simple yet dignified ceremony at the Chancery,” emphasizing that despite the difficulties the region is facing, the nation would overcome these challenges with confidence, strength, and faith. The ceremony concluded with a moment of prayer for the safety and success of Pakistan.

Pakistan National Day, observed annually on March 23, highlights the historic Lahore Resolution of 1940, which demanded a separate homeland for Muslims, a defining moment in the country’s journey toward independence. This year’s observance in Brussels, while modest in scale, carried a tone of reflection and resilience, aligning with broader global sensitivities. The Ambassador also emphasized the significance of Pakistan’s relations with Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Union, highlighting the EU as Pakistan’s second-largest trading partner. The commemoration in Brussels stood as a powerful symbol of resilience, unity, and national pride, reaffirming that the spirit of Pakistan endures far beyond its borders
