Doctors Without Borders condemn repeated Russian attacks on Ukrainian hospitals

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) – which is a non-governmental organization concerned with charity and humanitarian medical care – in a statement condemned systematic targeting of Ukrainian medical facilities by Russia in its ongoing invasion.

In its statement MSF reports that between April 2022 and December 2025 more than 20 attacks on on medical charity facilities happened. Aside from the facilities themselves, MSF states that their personnel is also targeted. These action look like a part of a “deliberate strategy to destroy the healthcare system and collectively punish the population”. Organization warns that these attacks are to consistent to look accidental, creating a pattern which itself speaks of their deliberate intent.

Data from World Health Organization (WHO) shows that from the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 and until the end of 2025, 2,815 attacks on healthcare were documented. A major part of these attacks involved heavy weaponry, while 2,319 attacks impacted facilities, though WHO does not name the who committed the attacks. Information from the UN agency counts the casualties as 224 deaths with 902 injured.

Ministry of Health of Ukraine provides its data, according to which during the same period 2,500 medical facilities were damage by Russian attacks with 327 of them completely destroyed.

MSF states, that such tendency denies medical care for several groups of people at the same time deteriorating the quality of remaining medical services. The organization called for UN Security council investigation on the matter and called on both sides of the war to respect the international humanitarian law.
