A new defense treaty signed between UK and Poland

On Wednesday during his official visit to London, Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk with his British counterpart Keir Starmer signed a defense “major” treaty.

The finalized deal which the parties signed encompasses a set of points on which UK and Poland will cooperate. Among them are combating organized crime, cybersecurity and defense cooperation.

Another aspect of the agreement is that it will deepen cooperation with the European Union, which United Kingdom left in 2016. This follows Starmer’s strategy of approaching the EU and strengthening the bilateral relationship with member states. Previously UK signed similar agreements with France and Germany.

Starmer is facing strong criticism in UK, one of the more recent reasons being the worrying result of the Labour party in local elections. Despite this, he vows to continue exercising his duties as PM, promising to face the challenges and to return hope to the Kingdom.

The discussions about United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union are popular once again, as many link the current troubles in the country to Brexit. For example, the ex-Secretary of Health Wes Streeting said that the Brexit was a “catastrophic mistake”, adding that it left Great Britain weaker in a number of ways. Though the opposition claims that such talk is a sign of Labour party not having a plan for the future of the country.
