When a single social media post harms a business relationship, who is responsible for managing the damage? In this part of its interview series, Business Diplomat presents Gulbahor Saidganiyeva’s answer, which places the issue within public relations.
First observation: the role of PR
She begins with a general observation: “In today’s world the role of Public Relations (PR) is very strong.” A social media post, she adds, is one of the directions of PR. This frames the question correctly. A post is a piece of public communication and belongs to the same field as press releases, announcements and public statements.
Second observation: specialists and technologies
From this she draws a practical conclusion: in trade and business, using separate PR technologies and hiring PR specialists today gives great results. A company can no longer leave public communication to chance or to individual employees. It needs people trained to manage it.
The logic of the assessment
Institutionalising digital reputation, in her view, means treating it as a professional function. The same company that hires accountants for its finances and lawyers for its contracts should hire specialists for its public image. A post that damages relations is then handled by a trained team, and mistakes become less likely.
The role of Business Diplomat
For a platform that aims to give young people experience, bring a diplomatic order to the business world, and benefit states by revitalising the economy, this points to a clear training topic. Young professionals who understand public relations can protect their companies and make the case for them abroad.
Conclusion
Saidganiyeva’s answer is direct: public relations has become a strategic tool, and companies should staff and organise it accordingly.
