Election in Japan, Large victory for the PLD

The party from Sanae Takaishi, prime minister of Japan since October 2025, won 316 seats over 465 of the lower houses, more than the 198 they gathered last elections in 2024. This new election was held after theHouse of Representatives last January. The LDP (Liberal Democratic Party) who is highly represented in the parliament since Japan’s post war history had lost considerable thrust from their supporters since theSlushFund Scandal and the link between Shinzo Abe and the Moon sect revealed after his assassination.

This regain of popularity is mainly due to the temperament of Sanae Takaishi, the first woman to hold the position of Prime Minister in Japan. She benefits from a huge popularity even among the youth. She takes the turn of a conservative approach notably on the issues of security, she indicates to elevate the Self-Defense forces into the status of a proper army and didn’t hesitate to announce that Japan will help Taiwan in case of an aggression from China. She aims to open anew wave of alliances and cooperations with the United States She’s also on the path of its predecessor concerning the economies with the so-called “Abenomics” and promised to cut the 8% tax on food over the inflation affecting the country, Japan having the highest debt from the developed countries. But the market opening this Monday gave the greenlight to such an ambition.
