The 7th EU–Canada Business Summit will take place on 23 November 2026 at the Palais des Académies in Brussels, bringing together business leaders, policymakers and institutional stakeholders from Canada, Europe and beyond. Convened by the Canada-Europe Economic Chamber – EU and hosted by its founding President, Sam Ayoub, the Summit has become the flagship annual meeting point for transatlantic economic dialogue, and this year it takes place as geopolitical uncertainty and trade tensions reshape supply chains on both sides of the Atlantic.
A growing Brussels platform
First held as a virtual event in 2020, the Summit has taken place in person in Brussels since 2021, at venues including the Cercle Royal Gaulois and the Mission of Canada to the European Union; this seventh edition moves to the Palais des Académies. Past editions have listed Canadian trade ministers and senior officials among their speakers, alongside business leaders from both sides of the Atlantic, and the organisers’ headline figures for 2026 are 500 participants from 40 countries. Alongside the panels, participants can take part in private B2B meetings.
A Summit shaped by security, industry and technology
A large share of this year’s five panel discussions is devoted to defence, reflecting Canada’s deepening engagement with European initiatives such as SAFE and its long-standing commitment within NATO. Beyond security, the programme addresses defence procurement and industrial cooperation, critical minerals and resilient supply chains, and the race in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. Confirmed speakers include Stéphane Dion, Resident Diplomat at the Université de Montréal and former Ambassador of Canada to Germany and France; Aura Salla, Member of the European Parliament (EPP, Finland); Jonathan Blanshay, Founder and Executive Chairman of Galvion; Roch Pelletier, Regional Vice President of Calian Defence Europe/U.K.; and Ana Coelho, Director of the ACCIO Delegation in Brussels.

The New Trade Wars panel
At 15:00, the Summit turns to one of its defining questions: The New Trade Wars: Canada, Europe and the Future of Global Commerce. The panel, held at the Palais des Académies in Brussels on 23 November, will be moderated by our team member Olha Pashchenko, Director of Eastern European and Transatlantic Affairs at EUReflect Media.
The discussion will examine a global trading environment marked by tariffs, protectionism, industrial subsidies and economic coercion, and ask how Canada and Europe can diversify trade and strengthen resilience while remaining closely integrated with the United States and other major markets. Among the topics on the agenda are the future of CETA, the evolving North American trade relationship, relations with China and other major economies, and the prospects for a more open, rules-based trading system.

Behind the Summit: the Canada-Europe Economic Chamber – EU
Based in Brussels, the Canada-Europe Economic Chamber – EU promotes economic exchange between Canada and the European Union. It grew out of a non-profit chamber founded in Canada in 2016 by members of the European and Canadian business communities, and today combines business development consulting, trade missions, conferences in Europe and Canada, and the annual Summit, supported by a network of advisory directors across both continents. Partners of this year’s Summit include Galvion, WSP, Purolator and the Université de Montréal.
The Summit is hosted by the Chamber’s founding President, Sam Ayoub, who delivers both the opening keynote and the closing remarks. A dual citizen of Canada and France, he was active in international chambers of commerce in Quebec City, Montreal, Vancouver and Paris before founding the Chamber in Canada and in Brussels.
