Eurovia Awarded 2026’s Most Successful European Project Organization

Today, Eurovia has been awarded "2026’s Most Successful European Project Organization", and we congratulated & interviewed the president of Eurovia, Oguzhan Bahadir ARI, to see the organization's future plans together with their view on the European Union's future.

Eurovia’s Role in Shaping European Union Projects

Eurovia is placing itself as an international organization actively leading European Union projects, mainly Horizon Europe, LIFE Programme, European Regional Development Fund, the newly introduced Digital Europe Programme, European Defence Fund, Erasmus+ (KA1, KA2, KA3), ESC. The organization proved their expertise on coordinating & partnering these projects the past years, and now published their book "Guidelines to EU Funds" to increase awareness and participation to these projects. As a Europen Parliament accredited body, Eurovia underlines the importance of participation rates of the EU projects. President Ari said: "One of Eurovia's main goals is to increase the participation rate among EU funded projects. Many start-ups, SMEs, public bodies or universities can not find enough funding due to their limited internal capacity or EU project management expertise. The EU funding framework is specifically designed to address these challenges by providing structured financial support, governance mechanisms, and collaborative opportunities.".

According to many sources, one of the core problems within the EU-funded projects is having the perfect idea but not being able to find a project partner from another country, since most of the projects are requiring at least two different countries to participate. According to President Oguzhan Ari: "Many individuals and legal entities, have their ideas to shape Europe's future but they don't know where to start or how to build an international consortium. Lacking experience in EU projects is completely normal. At Eurovia, we do more than simply encourage organizations to apply for EU funding—we actively guide them through the process. Depending on their needs, Eurovia either coordinates the project or joins as a strategic partner, ensuring that strong ideas are transformed into successful European projects that contribute to Europe’s development.”

"2025 was a quite success for Eurovia. We implemented more then 10+ big sized projects. One of the most highlighted one was 'Youth & Diplomacy Forum' where we brought European students with ambassadors, member of the parliaments, mayors, counsellors, CEOs and heads of public bodies. This may surprise you, but one of the core business of Eurovia is actually defence, energy and engineering sector. We have an amazing team of engineers who implemented the biggest AI, mechanical robot, aviation simulation and defence sector. We developed the first AI-driven autonomous agricultural robot for sugar beet cultivation, and we are now adapting this technology to Solanum tuberosum (potato) production under the Horizon Europe framework through the SPUDS project led by Eurovia. The SPUDS project delivers AI-based precision agriculture solutions designed to significantly reduce pesticide use and water consumption, increase crop yields, and ultimately improve farmers’ profitability, while directly supporting Europe’s zero-pollution and sustainability objectives. In practical terms, SPUDS aims to reduce water waste by up to 30%, increase farmers’ profits by up to 20%, and contribute to a substantial reduction in health risks associated with excessive agrochemical use — creating a clear win-win-win outcome for farmers, society, and the environment."

Building Strong Consortia: A Key to EU Project Success

We also asked the President about the key factors behind achieving acceptance in EU-funded projects. Emphasizing the importance of early strategic decisions, Oguzhan Bahadir ARI underlined that project success is largely determined at the consortium-building stage:

• “The likelihood of a project being accepted is often shaped from the very beginning—when the consortium is formed. A strong, well-balanced consortium is one of the most decisive elements in EU project evaluations."
  

As an example, ARI referred to Eurovia’s flagship project, SPUDS – Smart Potato Uptake and Decision Support, which brings together a highly competitive and complementary international consortium. The project is coordinated by Eurovia (Belgium) and includes leading partners such as Wageningen University & Research (Netherlands), Maastricht University (Netherlands), German Agricultural Society (Germany), Circular Research Foundation (Italy), InCursor Technology (Turkey), CDE Petra Petramonia (France) and an AI Expert (Romania).

According to ARI, this consortium structure reflects Eurovia’s strategic approach to EU projects—bringing together academic excellence, applied research capacity, technological innovation, and practical implementation expertise across multiple Member States.

"In parallel, we have also developed an AI-driven loitering munition system— commonly referred to as a suicide drone — designed with advanced autonomy and resilience against electronic countermeasures. This system has been developed and deployed in accordance with strict security and regulatory frameworks and is currently serving the armed forces of a NATO member country. Looking Ahead: Trust in Europe and the Future of Innovation

At Eurovia, we manage a substantial and growing workload, driven by our commitment to contribute to the European Union across its many dimensions. He underlined that Eurovia is committed to serving as a reliable and capable organization within the EU project ecosystem, encouraging Europeans to place their trust in both the European Union and Eurovia’s mission. Europe’s future, he stated, is in safe hands.
