Independence Day of the Kyrgyz Republic in Brussels

34th Independence Day of the Kyrgyz Republic was marked in Brussels with warm congratulations and strong messages of partnership.

Ambassadors from all over the world, including Turkiye, Qatar, China, Egypt, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, South America, Malaysia, etc., were present.

Mr. Pierre Cartuyvels (Chief of Protocol, Belgian MFA) wished the Kyrgyz people freedom, prosperity, and lasting peace, noting the EU’s support for dialogue on the Kyrgyz–Tajik border. He underlined the spirit of Chingiz Aitmatov and the Kyrgyz tradition as a bridge of friendship.

Mr. Eduards Stiprais (EU Special Representative for Central Asia) highlighted that the message of unity in the epic of Manas is also needed in Europe today.He also said: ‘May all Kyrgyz people live in freedom and prosperity, and may the soul of Manas protect you‘. and he is looking forward to his trip to Kyrgyzstan in the coming weeks.

The Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic started his speech with these words:

“Today, Kyrgyzstan is moving from a period of national revival to a period of national prosperity. Together we are building a strong state with a vibrant civil society.

The National Development Program of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2026 underlines the continuation of the process of reforming the judicial system, aimed at strengthening independence, ensuring transparency and citizen’s access to justice. I am pleased to note that the President of the Kyrgyz Republic announced an unprecedented fight against organized crime, corruption and shadow economy. Kyrgyzstan continues to modernize the country’s important transport arteries.”

The Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan H.E. Aidit Erkin stressed that independence means freedom and responsibility for the future. Kyrgyzstan is moving from revival to prosperity, investing in reforms, digitalization, and the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway. He highlighted the EU as a trusted partner, with the ratification of the EPCA Agreement and new visa facilitation with Benelux marking key steps forward.

The event concluded with gratitude to European partners and a call to revive the spirit of the Great Silk Road through modern connectivity and cooperation.
