Pakistan Calls for Diplomatic Pause and Ceasefire to Advance Peace in the Middle East

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, has underscored the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement to achieve a peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

In a public statement, the Prime Minister noted that diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation are progressing steadily and hold the potential to yield substantive results in the near future. Emphasizing the urgency of allowing diplomacy to take its course, he called for a temporary pause in hostilities to facilitate meaningful dialogue.

Prime Minister Sharif has earnestly requested Donald Trump to consider extending the current deadline by two weeks in support of ongoing diplomatic initiatives. He further urged the Iranian leadership to consider reopening the Strait of Hormuz for the same period as a constructive goodwill gesture.

In addition, Pakistan has called upon all parties involved in the conflict to observe a comprehensive ceasefire for two weeks. This pause, the Prime Minister stressed, would create vital space for diplomacy to achieve a conclusive end to hostilities, in the broader interest of long-term peace and stability in the region.

Pakistan reiterates its principled position that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path to resolving conflicts and ensuring sustainable peace.
