Who Speaks for the Embassy? Digital Protocols for Diplomatic Authenticity in the Age of AI
AI can now imitate not only people, but the appearance of official authority itself. As synthetic voices, videos, and statements become harder to distinguish from genuine diplomatic communication, international diplomacy may need new mechanisms to verify who is truly speaking on behalf of a state. This article proposes Digital Protocols to the Vienna Conventions as a practical way forward.
