ANKARA – A high-level panel titled “Energy and Economic Vision in Turkmenistan–Türkiye Relations on the 34th Anniversary of Independence” was held today at the Presidential Complex’s National Library in Ankara.

Jointly organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ankara, the EkoAvrasya Foundation, and the Association for Cooperation among Civil Society Organizations of the Turkic World, the event explored strategic opportunities for collaboration between Turkmenistan and Türkiye in the fields of energy and economy.

The panel brought together distinguished participants including Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Mekan İşanguliyev; AK Party Deputy Chairman Kürşad Zorlu; Director General for Central Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Togan Oral; as well as academics, industry experts, and students.

Ambassador İşanguliyev emphasized Türkiye’s role as one of Turkmenistan’s most significant foreign trade partners and expressed optimism about expanding cooperation in energy, transportation, banking, and urban development. Kürşad Zorlu highlighted the strategic importance of transporting Turkmen natural gas to Europe via Türkiye, underlining the potential of this initiative for regional energy security.

A special moment during the event was the recognition of EUReflect contributor Meryem Hojayeva, who was honored with a Certificate of Appreciation by the Embassy of Turkmenistan for her contributions to cultural and artistic initiatives. The certificate was presented in the presence of academics and guests attending the panel, marking a symbolic gesture of cultural diplomacy.

The panel also served as a celebration of Turkmenistan’s 34th year of independence. Speakers reflected on the deep historical ties, shared values, and forward-looking vision for cooperation between the two nations.

Discussions concluded with a focus on key themes such as energy security, green energy investments, logistics partnerships, strengthening cultural connections, and the shared joy of independence.
