Kazakhstan Rises in Global Passport Rankings
Kazakhstan rises to 63rd in the Henley Passport Index, leading Central Asia with visa-free access to 79 countries, reflecting growing global ties.
According to Astana Times, Kazakhstan has climbed three spots in the latest Henley Passport Index, now ranking 63rd globally—making it the highest-ranked country in Central Asia. This improvement reflects the nation’s growing diplomatic ties and its reputation as a safe and accessible destination for international travelers.
The Henley Index evaluates 199 passports based on the number of countries their holders can enter without a prior visa. Kazakh passport holders now enjoy visa-free access to 79 countries.
Regionally, Kazakhstan leads, followed by Kyrgyzstan at 73rd (63 destinations), Uzbekistan at 74th (62 destinations), Tajikistan at 80th (56 destinations), and Turkmenistan at 85th (49 destinations).
Globally, Singapore retains the top position for the second consecutive year, with its citizens enjoying visa-free access to 193 countries. Japan and South Korea share second place, each with access to 190 destinations. European nations continue to dominate the top tier. At the bottom of the list, Afghanistan ranks last, with its passport granting access to only 28 countries.
