Sayasat Nurbek introduces QAIRU to NVIDIA’s Jensen Huang in Astana

NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang’s first visit to Kazakhstan brought AI education and the next generation of researchers into focus. At alem.ai in Astana, Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek introduced Huang to QAIRU, a new university launched this year with a focus on artificial intelligence and advanced research.

The meeting explored how Kazakhstan is preparing young people to help develop the technologies that will shape their future. Nurbek presented AI-Sana, a programme helping university students develop practical AI skills and prepare for careers, research and innovations of their own.

He stressed that these opportunities should reach students, educators, young engineers and researchers across the country. Kazakhstan’s universities and scientific community, he said, have an important role to play in the global development of AI.

Huang left a handwritten message alongside his autograph: “To a shared optimistic future!”

Reflecting on those words, Nurbek highlighted the importance of “shared”: the opportunity to contribute to AI should extend to universities and research communities around the world, including Kazakhstan.“The future of AI is something we must build together,” the minister wrote.
