- What was your overall impression about 4th Shusha Global Media Forum?

- The 4th Shusha Global Media Forum was a remarkable demonstration of Azerbaijan's growing role in shaping global discussions on media, technology, and international cooperation. At a time when artificial intelligence and disinformation are transforming the global information landscape, Azerbaijan has created an influential platform where governments, journalists, policymakers, academics, and technology leaders can collectively explore practical solutions.

The theme, "The Mission of the Media in Promoting Peace: Restoring Truth and Rebuilding Trust," could not have been more timely. Under the visionary leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the Government of Azerbaijan has successfully positioned the forum as a globally respected venue for dialogue on ethical journalism, digital resilience, and responsible media.

- President Ilham Aliyev delivered the opening address. What message do you believe resonated most strongly?

- President Ilham Aliyev's address was both visionary and inspiring. His message extended beyond media policy; it reflected Azerbaijan's broader vision for peace, development, and international cooperation.

What impressed me most was his emphasis that Shusha itself represents truth, resilience, and reconstruction. Delegates who visited the city witnessed firsthand how a region once devastated by conflict has been transformed into a vibrant cultural and intellectual center. This transformation is not only physical—it represents the determination of Azerbaijan to restore its cultural heritage while promoting stability and peaceful coexistence.

President Aliyev also reaffirmed Azerbaijan's commitment to a just and lasting peace in the South Caucasus based on international law and mutual respect. Equally significant was his emphasis on the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor, highlighting Azerbaijan's increasing contribution to regional connectivity between Europe and Asia.

His message consistently promoted dialogue instead of confrontation, cooperation instead of division, and facts instead of misinformation.

- How has Shusha evolved as an international media platform?

- The evolution has been extraordinary. Over the past four years, the Shusha Global Media Forum has developed into one of the most important international platforms dedicated to the future of journalism and digital communication. This year's participation of nearly 160 delegates from 53 countries clearly demonstrates the forum's growing international recognition.

The Government of Azerbaijan deserves considerable appreciation for institutionalizing this annual dialogue. Rather than being merely a conference, the forum has become a platform where governments, international organizations, technology companies, researchers, and media professionals openly exchange ideas on challenges created by artificial intelligence, disinformation, cybersecurity, and declining public trust.

- One of the important discussions focused on children and the digital world. Why do you think this topic received so much attention?

- I believe this was one of the forum's most forward-looking discussions. Artificial intelligence and social media are rapidly changing the way children access information and interact online. Issues such as cyberbullying, algorithm-driven manipulation, misinformation, and psychological well-being require global attention.

The forum demonstrated Azerbaijan's willingness to actively contribute to international discussions on digital ethics, online safety, and responsible innovation. The balanced approach presented—protecting young people while encouraging technological progress—was particularly encouraging.

- Artificial intelligence and cybersecurity were central themes throughout the forum. What were the major takeaways?

- The discussions were exceptionally practical. Experts from Azerbaijan's cybersecurity institutions, international AI specialists, and representatives from major global technology companies examined challenges including deepfakes, data protection, platform accountability, digital literacy, and cybersecurity resilience.

Being an AI and software expert, I was particularly encouraged to learn about Azerbaijan's ongoing efforts to modernize its cybersecurity legislation. This demonstrates the government's proactive approach toward building a secure digital environment while encouraging innovation.

The presence of leading technology companies also reflected Azerbaijan's commitment to inclusive dialogue where governments, regulators, industry, and researchers work together rather than separately.

- The forum also witnessed the announcement of a new D-8 media cooperation initiative. How significant is this development?

- It is a very significant achievement. The presentation of the strategy of the D-8 Media Excellence Center, led by Secretary General Sohail Mahmood together with Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, marks an important step toward strengthening cooperation among member states.

The proposed Media Centre of Excellence has the potential to become an important institution for professional training, media research, innovation, capacity building, and countering disinformation. Such initiatives demonstrate that the Shusha Forum is producing practical outcomes rather than simply facilitating discussions.

- Finally, how would you describe Azerbaijan's contribution to global media dialogue under President Ilham Aliyev's leadership?

- Azerbaijan has successfully positioned itself as a constructive contributor to international discussions on media responsibility, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and peacebuilding.

Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the country has transformed Shusha into far more than a reconstructed city—it has become an international symbol of resilience, dialogue, and cooperation. The Government of Azerbaijan deserves recognition for creating a platform where global challenges are discussed openly and responsibly.

The Shusha Global Media Forum reflects Azerbaijan's commitment to promoting responsible journalism, strengthening international partnerships, encouraging technological innovation, and rebuilding public trust in the digital age.
