Malaysia Targets India
Malaysia is strengthening its presence in India by promoting medical tourism alongside its wider tourism offerings under the Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 campaign.

Malaysia Targets India
Malaysia is strengthening its tourism presence in India as part of its broader strategy to attract international visitors and expand high-value tourism segments.
Tourism Malaysia conducted its Sales Mission Series 2 across Chennai, Mumbai and New Delhi from 12 to 20 August 2026, reinforcing its engagement with one of the country’s important international tourism markets.
The initiative forms part of Malaysia’s ongoing Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 campaign and provides a platform for Malaysian tourism industry representatives to connect with Indian travel partners and showcase the country’s diverse tourism products.
Medical Tourism in Focus
Medical tourism was among the key tourism segments promoted during the initiative. Malaysia is increasingly presenting healthcare travel as part of a wider visitor experience that combines specialised healthcare with hospitality, cultural attractions, gastronomy and leisure.
The strategy is also connected to Malaysia’s Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism 2026, which places healthcare travel at the centre of the country’s international tourism promotion efforts.
By engaging directly with travel industry professionals in India, Tourism Malaysia is seeking to strengthen awareness of Malaysia’s healthcare and tourism offerings and create new opportunities for international visitor growth.
Expanding Tourism Partnerships
The India initiative reflects Malaysia’s wider approach of working with international tourism partners to increase connectivity and strengthen destination awareness.
Tourism Malaysia has been expanding its promotional activities across key international markets throughout 2026. India is particularly important within this strategy because of its large travel market and established connections with Malaysia.
The sales mission therefore provides an opportunity to introduce Malaysian tourism products while strengthening relationships between tourism businesses in both countries.
Supporting Visit Malaysia 2026–2027
Malaysia’s international tourism strategy is centred on Visit Malaysia 2026, which has been extended through 2027. The campaign aims to increase international visitor arrivals while promoting Malaysia’s cultural heritage, natural attractions, hospitality and specialised tourism segments.
Medical tourism is positioned within this wider framework as a high-value segment capable of contributing to Malaysia’s tourism ecosystem.
Through continued engagement with India, Malaysia is seeking to strengthen its international tourism network and present the country as a destination offering both quality healthcare and diverse travel experiences.
