Pakistan and EU Reaffirm Partnership at 81st UN General Assembly

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, met European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The meeting focused on strengthening Pakistan–EU relations, with particular attention to trade, economic cooperation, peace and security.
Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar highlighted the importance of the EU’s Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) for Pakistan’s trade relationship with the bloc.
The two officials also exchanged views on regional and global developments. Dar welcomed the EU’s constructive engagement during recent regional developments and highlighted the importance of de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy.
Both sides agreed to maintain close engagement on issues of mutual interest, reaffirming the importance of the long-standing Pakistan–EU partnership.
